Is 4th Quarter Here Already?!

Mrs. Cluck's Family Update

Thank you for all of the prayers and support these past weeks as my family faced a very difficult decision.  As most of you know Mr. Cluck and I have been Called to Trinity Lutheran School, Delray Beach, FL.  He as assistant principal and myself as a jr. high teacher.  After many weeks of prayers, discussions and more prayers we have decided to accept the call to Trinity.  We feel God has truly made his plan know for us to move our family and be in ministry together.  We never would have imagined this was in our future, but God has great plans for all who love him.  God also has great plans for Zion and whomever will step into my role next year.  Zion has and will always be a place I love and cherish.  My 8 years here at Zion have made me the teacher I am today.  I learned from a great principal, from relationships with great co-workers, and was blessed with great kids to teach.  I was able to try new things, to make mistakes and grow from them, and most of all I was filled with great joy being around the staff, students, and families here.  Thank you for the amazing memories and the love you have poured into my life.

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Some Missed Pictures...Great Skate!

Faith Families
This Wednesday our Faith Families learned that a small rock a can make a big ripple in a pond.  As Faith Families we made activity bags for kids with cancer.  These bags were put together in a small amount of time but the 160 activity bags will make a big impact to those who receive them.  It is exciting to watch the students willingly spend their time sharing God’s love with children they will never meet.
We also celebrated Baptismal Birthdays in March and April.

I Missed January!?

Where did January go?!  I blinked and it's February, wow!  A big thank you to Mrs. Murray for keeping us all up-to-date with email and blog reminders :)

Here's what's going on in 7th grade these days...

 Religion

  • We spent a week talking, learning, and discussing "The Sanctity of Life."  Students wrote personal testimonies on their views of this topic which included scriptural verses to support their writing.  We got very serious about the topics of abortion, suicide, euthanasia, and self harm.  I was very impressed with the mature way this class talked and listened to their classmates.  Not all questions were answered, but I did my best to guide and lead them to rely on God's word for answers to their questions.  This is a great time in a student's life to ask questions in a safe Christian environment.  I encourage you to bring this topic (The Sanctity of Life) up with your child; ask to read their essay or see if they are struggling to find answers to their questions about the life God gave them.

Literature
  • We finished reading "Where the Red Fern Grows" last week which was (as expected) full of tears!  What a great novel about friendship and loyalty, prayer and faith.  Students will take a test this week and enjoy the movie.  Here are a few pictures of students enjoying some old fashioned soda bottles remembering when Billy tried his first soda in the novel. Cheers!

World History

  • Students finished their study of the MO Constitution!  YAY!  They worked and studied for hours the past month to master and learn more about being a citizen of Missouri.
  • We will be moving back into the history book with a study of Africa and its culture

Science
  • Students received a new science book this week and will be learning all about the human body.

Art
  • Beautiful Name Kaleidoscopes were completed last week
    • Can you read the names?
  • The next project will require students to have magazines to cut and a piece of cardboard (any thickness)

National Lutheran Schools Week
  • Last week was NLSW and we had a blast celebrating being a part of Zion!  Thank you for seeing the value in sending your child to our school.  We are a family surrounded in God's love, grace, and truth.  Your support does not go unnoticed!!  Thank you!!
