Weeks 8-10

Wow, these last three weeks have flown by!  The Jr. high has been busy in and out of the classroom as we are now two weeks into the second quarter.

Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Conferences last week were such a blessing to me.  I absolutely enjoyed talking with all of you, thank you for making the time to come to our classroom for some positive discussions.  If there is anything you would like to discuss with me throughout the year, please let me know (via email is best) and we can set up a time to meet.

World History:
Students are finishing out their study of Europe during the Middle Ages.  Feudalism & The Roman Catholic Church have been our areas of focus.  Students found it interesting to compare the Catholic religion with the Lutheran faith.

We will soon be starting a new unit in the Middle East where we will discuss how geography affect culture, students will discover who Muhammad is, and we will dive into learning about Islam and Muslims' way of life.  I encourage conversations to take place at home about these topics.  Students have great inquires and want to learn; it is so important to learn about other religions and then be able to see the TRUTH in the Bible and God's Word.

Harvest Parties Last Week:
Thank you to room parents, Michelle Wadley, Laura Horton, and Arin Paske for the time and planning it takes for the kids to have these parties. Kids (and teachers) appreciate it!

Walk-a-thon Success Leads to Christmas Service Project Beginning!

All Jr. High students received a letter on Friday regarding our Christmas Service Project Items Drive, directly stemming from our walk-a-thon.  I know it may seem early, but in order for us to pack our goal of 100 shoe boxes (for Operation Christmas Child) and have them delivered by Christmas we must start NOW!  All of the funds raised at the walk-a-thon will also be supporting this service project.  In the spirit of Christmas, remembering what God gave us, we want to turn our focus on giving instead of receiving.  We will be collecting items from October 6 - November 7. Check out the guidelines below, the letter sent home and Operation Christmas Child's website (http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/).  Thank you for your supported donations and prayers!!

Feudalism Skits:

7th grade students completed their Feudalism skits this past week.  They had a BLAST writing,  practicing, gathering costumes & props, and learned a great deal about working together, acting, and what is was like to be a part of Feudalism.

I pray all are enjoying the beautiful autumn weather & post-season Cardinal's baseball!
