Week 17

We have just a short time together before Christmas break, but so much to accomplish! Students have been working hard. This week they took their memory test for quarter 2, finished up their AR points, turned in a History Timeline project, and have been working on a Literature creative writing project (connected with "A Christmas Carol"). We also had the opportunity to participate in the 3rd and 4th grade Advent service and a faith family activity.

We have more to look forward to before our Christmas break. See information below:

Christmas concert… is Tuesday, December 16th starting at 7 PM.  Strings, bells, band and choirs will perform at this concert.  What a great way to support and enjoy our children's talents!

Geography Bee... will be held Tuesday the 16th starting at 9 AM.  Bee is held in the gym. 7th graders worked through the qualifying questions in History this week.  Congratulations to Will T. & Alex W. who answered 7 out of 7 preliminary round questions and will serve as our 7th grade representatives!  Adam R. answered 6 out of 7 and will be the 7th grade alternate.  Way to go guys!!

Our Christmas Party... will be December 19th from 1:30 - 2:30. Once again, room moms are putting in the time. If you are able to offer any help or supplies please let Mrs. Wadley, Mrs. Horton, or Mrs. Paske know what you can do to help. Remember Friday, December 19th is a FULL day of school.

Christmas Wreath Art Projects... turned our beautifully!! Students worked primarily out of the classroom on this project due to the number of Fridays off school.  I am amazed at the different creative ideas in each project.  I hope these wreaths can decorate your home with Christmas season or serve as a great gift for a loved one.

Christmas Eve Services: Celebrate Christ's birth!
December 24th services at Zion will be held: 3:00, 5:00, 11:00
Christmas Day service 9:00 AM

All 7th grade families will be in my prayers this Christmas Season as we turn our hearts toward the coming Savior.  May you feel the Advent HOPE, PEACE, JOY, and LOVE that only out Lord and Savior brings to us!

Crazy Leggings Day: Just having some fun in 7th grade!

 Wild Animal Symmetry Art:
This is one of my favorite Art projects to teach.  Every student was successful in drawing the symmetrical half of their chosen animal.  We discusses value and shading techniques.  Students used lead and charcoal drawing pencils to complete this project.  Excellent work!  Can you tell which half is printed and which is drawn?

Literature Skits:
7th graders are studying a Drama Unit in Literature class.  We read the Twilight Zone script "Monsters are Due on Maple Street" to kick off the unit.  Students them were given the task of preparing a mini-skit based off favorite childhood books.  I was extremely impressed with the memorization and group work that took place in the classroom.

"Snowy Day"

"Click, Clack, Moo"

"Three Billy-Goats Gruff"

"Puppies for Sale"

 "The Little Red Hen"

Q&A with Pastor Rouland:
7C welcomed Pastor Rouland to our classroom Tuesday morning for a question and answer session.  Students had excellent questions regarding their faith and what the Lutheran Church believes.  Here are some of their questions -- you could bring them up for a discussion at home too!

  • What is a soul?
  • Why does God allow bad things to happen?
  • Why did God allow Adam & Eve the option of sinning in the Garden of Eden?
  • Will there be animals in heaven?
  • What will we be like in heaven?
  • Do we keep learning in heaven?
  • Are there buildings in heaven? Nigh & Day? Sleeping?

Addition to the Cluck Family:
Mr. Cluck and I are excited to announce we are expecting our first child June 15th.  God is SOOO GREAT!!!  My students have been very sweet -- even though they thought there might be 3 or 4 babies :) I made it very clear there is only one :)

In Christ,
