Students are currently reading "Where the Red Fern Grows" and enjoying the story of Billy and his pups.  We celebrated learning about the time period Billy grew up in with some old time "soda pop," licorice, and candies (thank you to Mrs. Ernstmeyer and Drew for donations!!).

Jump Rope & Hoops for Heart was a success with the 7th and 8th graders raising $500 for the American Heart Association.  Great fun dressing down in our sweats, playing knock out, hool-a-hooping, and jumping rope.

 Career Wednesday

 Spirit Thursday

Color Friday (purple & blue with the 2nd grade)

World History: We completed our study of the Islam with a comparison to Christianity.  Students created posters to display comparing the beliefs and practices of each religious group.  I think students were surprised at the similarities they found.  I believe these students also have a greater understanding of the Islamic religion which has been shown in their discussion of current events.
Literature: Students completed a "How-to" writing after using pipe-cleaners to make a creation.  After the how-to was written students switched instructions to see if they were clear enough to make an identical object.  It was fun to see the creative designs as well as hearing the editing comments to make their instructions more clear.

Art: I am SO proud of my 7th grade artists!  I know I already posted the 3D spirals, but in addition to that project they completed a magazine roll project with turned out awesome!
