I'm a little late on this post, sorry!
Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving

Religion: We reviewed the last few lessons and created our own quizzes
Math: ™: We learned about how many gallons it takes to fill up a bathtub and how much water weighs
Math AL: Learned about using decimals in equations
Science: We took a test on worms, sponges, and cnidarians
World History: We created timelines about Muhammad and our own lives
English: We learned about direct and indirect objects
Literature: We took a test this week and started learning about drama’s
Spanish: We learned about me gusta and took a test quiz on Thursday.

New New’s:
We had a sub on Friday, he was Nick Wad’s Grandpa!
We had the Thanksgiving Food Drive and Wednesday.
We had a turkey drawing contest between Kent and Hannah ...Kent won!
We get next week off due to Thanksgiving!!!
We had an assembly on Thursday and Mr. M got his hair chopped off!
We were part of a world stacking day on Thursday
The A1 boys have a tournament this weekend
We learned how to speak in Braeden’s “Arkansassy” accent. Example: Ya darn squirrel!!! Another example: Ya’ll better keep ‘dem grades up! Or: Ya darn tootin!
And we learned that we all love each other!

Discovering More About Islam


Today we will be gathering all the questions and discussion topics students have about the religion Islam.  We learned about the creator of Islam, Muhammad, last chapter.  This next chapter will lead us to understand more about Muslim's core beliefs and practices.

Election Week


NEW: The school received new Macbook Airs!
NEW: We got a new Science book!


We had no school on Tuesday for Election day
We had a Veterans Day remembrance service on Friday led by Mrs. Murray
The 19th through 23rd we will be off for Thanksgiving break.
Science - This week in science we had a test on our plant section. 
We transferred our books to an animal book.
History - This week in World History we are learning about Muhammad (the creator of the Islam religion) We will be working on a timeline project next week
Math - Both classes took test today! fun!
Spanish - learning about "may gusta" (I like...)

7th Grade Blog

Science: dissected a flower
Religion: talked about the first, second, and three Commandments
World History: took a map test over the Arabian Peninsula and started talking about the religion Islam
Literature: we made children’s pictures books based on the story “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi”
Math: learning about dividing fractions
English: learning about the progressive forms
Memory this week was Numbers 6:24-26 and Matthew 15:8
Art: drawing a realistic leaf pile and painting with watercolors

Another wonderful week in 7th Grade!  I hope everyone had a safe and fun celebration of Reformation & Halloween.  I'm a little late posting last weeks blog, so I'm going to add some information for this week too.
  • Friday night was a successful Jr. High Fall Dance hosted by Student Council -- great "glowing" decorations, snacks, music, and dancing!  I hope to see everyone again at the Spring Dance.
  • In the patriotic spirit the Jr. High students partook in the "Zion 2012 Mock Election" today.  We shall see if they match the 2012 National Election outcomes tomorrow.  Are you practicing your right to vote?
  • Wednesday the 7th I hope to see all the mom's in the church basement from 7am-8am at "Muffin's for Mom's"
  • Friday we will be setting aside time to celebrate/honor Veteran's Day with a special 5th-8th grade service.  Please join us if you are able and would like to celebrate with us.  8:15am in the church sanctuary

10/21 - 10/26

In the week of 10/21/12-10/26/12 we have been working on many subjects.  In Art class we received a blank, ceramic pumpkin to paint however we would like!  In World History class we have been studying the Arabian Peninsula, its environment, and the adaptations Arabs would make to live there.  In Literature class we read the story “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” and watched the cartoon.  It was GREAT!

TRUNK-OR-TREAT was Friday!! In this event kids dress up in halloween costumes and run around from car to car trunk-or-treating!!!

ATTENTION JUNIOR HIGH!!!!!! The junior high dance is on November 2nd. The theme is GLOW!!! We require one chaperone from each class. If you are interested you can contact Mrs. Cluck!  It costs $6.00 to attend.  Students should come to the gym at 7:00 p.m. and parents should arrive to pick up at 9:30 p.m. Student Council members stay till 10:00 p.m. for clean up.

SPELLING BEE:The spelling bee representatives (Steven, Scott, and alternate Nick C.) of Zion’s 7th grade are going to be going to the Zion Lutheran high school at about the same time that the Junior High dance starts. The spelling bee kids can arrive at the dance after the spelling bee and do not have to pay!

Fun Activities!!!:

  • This week was red ribbon week and we got to have fun dress days --- we are drug free!!
  • We painted and glossed pumpkins
  • Arabian Peninsula Timed Challenge...do you know all the countries in the Arabian Peninsula?
