Week 24

Happy President's Day weekend!  There are lots of pictures from this week shared below.  Ask your child about everything happening in 7th grade.  Can you believe we are half way through the third quarter?!

NLSW Change War raised over $4,000 which we were able to donate to the Christian Resource Center in India through Pastor Sam.  This continues to be an organization supported through Zion's chapel offerings for the 2014-2015 school year.

Wednesday the 18th is Ash Wednesday, and begins Zion’s 3:30 (and 7:00) Lenten services.  Congregation members will be coming for the 3:30 service as school is being dismissed.  The handicapped parking spots outside the church entrance and in front of Jr. High should be kept open for these service goers.  Thank you for NOT parking in these handicap spots for after school pick up.

Experiencing Supply and Demand in World History Class: The Pearl Exchange

Students bought and sold "pearls" during class this week.  Each sale round they changed the variables of supply and demand.

Reading with the 1st Graders: The 7th graders created "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" picture books in Literature class and shared these stories with the 1st grade class.  The 1st graders also shared favorite poems and books with the 7th graders.  I love seeing the older students interacting with the younger ones.  The 7th graders are great role models; they laugh and listens to each other with ease.

Salt & Gold Trading in West Africa:

Hoops for Heart: I snapped these two quick pictures and then started turning double-dutch ropes!  Sorry I have no other pictures from this fun event.  Students had a blast shooting hoops, jumping rope, and hula-hooping to raise money for the American Heart Association.  Great work Jr. High students!!

Weeks 21-23

I might be a little behind on Blogging!  I hope you and your family are feeling better than our 7th grade class this week.  Last Friday through this past Friday we had anywhere from 5-11 students out sick, yuck!  Please keep encouraging healthy hygiene habits with your children.  I, myself, am fighting a head-cold -- not fun, especially with the beautiful weather God has sent us this weekend.  Praying you are able to get outside and spent some quality time with your family.

Below are pictures captured the past few weeks, upcoming date reminders, and some odds-n-ends...Enjoy!

A True Miracle:
Many of you heard about the 14 year old boys from Living Word Christian School who fall through the ice on Lake St. Louis over the MLK holiday.  Miraculously John (one of the boys, who was in critical condition) survived with few effects after being underwater for 15 minutes.  This new report truly captures the power of prayer and God's hand working in our lives.

Celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week:

7th graders LOVE PJ-Day :)

Mrs. Cluck's class raised over $400 during the "Change War" -- Awesome generosity!  All offerings are donated to Pastor Sam who runs a Christian Resource Center in India.

Just a few of the "Super" teachers around Zion :)

Optical Art -- Do they look 3D?

Watching the Teacher vs. 8th Grade volleyball game -- Of course the teachers come out VICTORIOUS!
