Week 22

Please review old posts for fun-to-know and important information :)

Valentines Parties: Administration has announced there is to be no brining of candy for Valentines celebrations.  This is to ensure we are following our "Peanut Safe Environment" policy.  Thank you for understanding.  This will also be announced in the Banner.

Auction Round Up time is here! The Round Up is for 2 weeks, January 27 - February 3rd. During those weeks parents can bring in new items to be donated for the auction (theme baskets, electronics, etc.). You may have noticed there are ideas posted on the library windows in the main school building, which are shapes, and an idea tree in preschool with leaves. These ideas will help you with putting together a theme basket or items to purchase to donate for the 2014 Auction. Feel free to take an idea shape or leaf off the window/tree or you may come up with one of your own. Some of the large item suggestions, you may ask other families to go in with you.Junior High do not feel like you have to come to the main building, you may give it to Mrs. Beaty and we will collect them.
At the end of the two weeks we will add up all the values from items donated per class and announce the 2 winning classes, one class from PS-3rd grade and one from 4-8th grade. This year the two winning classes will get a free bowling party with lunch included at Harvest Lanes. You may watch how your childs class is doing with the daily tallies that will be posted in the buildings.

Thanks in advance for helping make the 2014 Auction a success. If you have any questions feel free to contact Melissa Roos melroos@att.net, Gina Powley ginanbutch@msn.com, Nicole Wood nmwood03@gmail.com or Whitney Brickner whitneybrickner@gmail.com

National Lutheran School Week:  Students are excited about celebrating NLSW; maybe just for the fun dress days and extra activities (which get them out of some classes), but it truly is a great week set aside to remember how blessed we are to be a part of this Zion family.  I encourage you to talk with your child about what they are thankful for here at Zion :)

Week 21

Please review old posts for fun-to-know and important information

Valentine's Party is scheduled for February 13th.  This takes place during the day and is a fun social time for the class.  Please remember Zion is a peanut sensitive school environment; no treats are allowed to be homemake and labels must be checked to ensure the product was made in a peanut free environment.  Check out the Snack Safely Guide for a list of peanut free snacks: http://snacksafely.com/safe-snack-guide/

We are enjoying our novel unit "Where the Red Fern Grows."  Students especially had fun trying "horehound candy" and "pop."

Blessings on your MLK weekend,
