Updates from 7P

What was it like to trade in West Africa?  We did our best to act out the trans-Saharan trade which took place between the north and west Africans.  Students discovered the importance of salt & gold. Is salt worth it's weight in gold??  We discussed the concept of "Supply & Demand" in our 21st century economy along with it's importance during the reign of the trading empire of Ghana.

"Guess Who!?"  The 7th grade enjoyed drawing "Backwards Portraits" of each other in art class.  By using texture, color, and line these art projects were a success!

New Year -- New Adventures

I would like to say Happy New Year but it's already the third week in January! Where does the time go?!?!
The 3rd Quarter is underway -- here are some highlights:
  • World History class has taken us to the continent of Africa
  • 7th graders also have begun their MO Constitutional Studies with "Constitution Fridays!"
  • We recently completed a "Backwards Portrait" in Art class, which many found to be more fun than they expected!
  • We completed a Drama Unit in Literature having fun becoming characters of various types of plays.  We look forward to our first NOVEL UNIT -- What will it be??
  • We continue to follow the Israelite people while they complain and grumble in the desert.  We see God's guidance in their lives and ours!
  • Mrs. Stewart has added some fun Science links to her blog -- check 'em out!

"A Christmas Carol"

After seeing "A Christmas Carol" performed by Lindenwood University students our class is enjoying reading & acting out this play in Literature class.  We have seen many similarities and differences in the productions.  Today, we danced with Fezziwig as Scrooge remembered his childhood!  Tomorrow Scrooge will be visited by Christmas Present and Future --- Will Scrooge's heart ever change?
