Week 10

Parent Teacher Conferences:
Thanks to all the parents for spending 15 minutes with me talking about your children.  Our conversations were fun and filled with positivity!!  We have conquered the first quarter of 7th grader and there is much more to accomplish, learn, and enjoy this year.  Parents, let me know if you would like a copy of the presentation I shared with you last Thursday.

Shout out to our room parents...THANK YOU for the delicious snacks for our Harvest Party.

The 7th graders finished their color wheels this week.  This is one of my favorite projects all year.  They were only allowed to use the primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) to mix all 12 colors. They then cut out the same shape from all 12 colors to form their wheel. Awesome work!!

Week 9

End of First Quarter & Parent Teacher Conferences
Friday was the end of the first quarter (I really can't believe it).  Grades are still being posted by teachers this weekend; hopefully these wont be any major surprises when report cards are discussed at conferences.  Keep up with viewing grades at Sycamore Education (<-- click the link).

I am looking forward to parent teacher conferences -- a chance to touch base and have a positive conversation about your child's 7th grade year.  It is imperative I stay on schedule during these conferences, thank you in advance for being ready at your scheduled time.  You also have permission to knock on the classroom door if the conference preceding yours is going long :)

Art
Students mixed primary colors to make all 12 colors of the color wheel.  Everyone had fun and such bright beautiful colors were created! (final project pictures to come next week)

Field Trip to Fitz's Bottling Co. & The St. Louis Seminary

The class had fun going out to lunch at Fitz's Bottling Company and learning the history of the Loop.  The root beer was highly enjoyed by all.  We are proud that Julia is part of our class and the history of her ancestors "the Fitzgeralds" is extra special!

The St. Louis Seminary was our next stop where students learned about how pastors become pastors, saw many historic buildings, a beautiful sanctuary, and climbed a huge bell tower.

Week 8

End of the Quarter
Next Friday 10/9 is the end of the first quarter.  Every year time seems to move more and more quickly!  Time flies when you are having FUN, right?!  Report cards will be handed out at parent teacher conferences.  Encourage your child to keep working to the best of their abilities at all times this year :)  Reading, studying, staying organized, etc. will help them experience a successful year.

Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Thank you for all of the time requests I received.  Your child was given a letter with your assigned conference time today.  Please sign whether or not the time works for you and have your child bring it back to school Monday 10/5.  I am looking forward to meeting with each of you on the 15th!

Feudalism Skits
The class presented feudalism skits for each social class of the hierarchy this week.  So fun & funny!  They researched and wrote their own "productions" which I recorded and will combine into a "movie" to watch next week.  Excellent work 7th graders, I hope you had fun and learned along the way.  Students will be tested on Feudalism next Tuesday 10/6.  I wish I would have taken some candid pictures along the way....bummer.

Figurative Language
7th graders dove into (idiom) Figurative Language this week.  They were as happy as calms (simile) writing their own examples and learning a rap to help understand each type.  Lucky for them they do not have a ton of homework (hyperbole) this weekend!

Picture of the week
Since I don't have any pictures to share with you this week of your beautiful children, I will share one of my beautiful girl :)  She always makes me smile as I'm sure yours do for you!
Blessings on your weekend,
